The right RORO bin depends on the waste type, estimated amount and available space. A deeper bin provides more room, but it does not mean the truck can carry more weight.

Start with the waste type

Concrete, brick, tiles and soil are much denser than cardboard or branches. Mixed renovation waste can contain both. Tell the supplier which materials make up most of the load, and confirm the loading limit before filling the bin.

Compare the four sizes

Nominal capacity Approximate length × width × height Suggested use
8 yd³ 11 × 6 × 2 ft Concrete, tiles, soil and rubble
12 yd³ 10 × 6 × 4 ft General construction waste on smaller sites
12 yd³ 12 × 6 × 4 ft Boards, frames and longer offcuts
20 yd³ 14 × 7.5 × 5.5 ft Packaging, timber and tree cuttings

These are nominal sizes with approximate published dimensions. The two 12 yd³ options have different footprints. Confirm the dimensions if placement space is limited.

Check truck access

The bin needs a suitable standing area and enough space for loading. Check entrance width, overhead cables, canopies, height barriers and turning space. Raised slabs, paving and soft ground may need assessment before a loaded bin can be placed there.

Send photos and measurements of the access route when requesting a quote.

Estimate the amount

Describe the work and the materials being removed. Room area alone is not a reliable measure of loose debris. For ongoing work, discuss whether bin exchanges will be needed as the project progresses.

Keep waste within the bin

Keep materials below the rim and follow the agreed loading limit. Ask about long, heavy or awkward items before loading them. An unsuitable load may need to be rearranged before collection.
