Pruning, hedge trimming and grounds maintenance can produce more waste than a building’s regular bins can hold. Plan collection before the landscaping work begins.
Match the collection to the work
Grass cuttings, palm fronds and branches take up different amounts of space. Large trunks and root balls can also be heavy. Tell the bin supplier what the work involves and provide an estimate or photos of the expected waste.
A deeper bin may suit bulky cuttings, but the loading limit still matters. Confirm the size before booking.
Check the building’s access
Agree the proposed bin position with building management. Check the entrance, turning space, overhead clearance and permitted vehicle hours. The ground or slab must be suitable for the bin and loading operation.
Notify residents or occupiers if the approved position affects parking or access.
Keep garden waste separate
Where practical, keep cuttings separate from general rubbish. Ask the collection provider what materials can be included and how the load should be prepared. Do not assume all garden waste will be composted or mulched.
Check any local council or building requirements that apply to placement and collection.
Coordinate the dates
Discuss the delivery and collection dates when booking the landscaping work. For larger projects, plan how to request an exchange if the first bin fills. Availability and access should be confirmed in advance.
